Safe food
Testing and sampling of soil and crop guarantee safe food. The produce is traceable back to the farms.
Examples of criteria:
- Traceability from products back to farms.
- Safe storage and handling of products.
- Control and analysis of cadmium in soil, fertilisers and grain.
- Safe use of pesticides and fertilisers.
- No use of sludge.
Animal welfare
At the moment there are criteria for dairy cows, chicken and honey, and we are developing criteria for beef and pigs. We are working towards having stringent criteria for animal housing and husbandry so that we can ensure healthy and well- managed animals.
Examples of criteria for dairy cows and beef:
- All animals must graze during the summer months
- A vivid landscape
By keeping grazing animals and protect local envirnoments and cultural heritage, we will be able to keep a vivid and diverse landscape. - Examples of criteria for grain production:
- Green zones must make up 3% of the area produced with annual crops (for example hedgerows, beetle banks)
- Unsprayed field zones
Responsibility for the environment
Planning, precision and protective measures will create less leakage of nutrients, less risk of pesticide pollution and lower use of the earth's resources.
Examples of criteria:
- Adaptation of fertiliser use to the individual need for every crop/field etc.
- Adaptation of pesticide use to expected levels of pest attacks.
- Biological methods should preferably be used.
- Safe storage, handling and use of pesticides.
- Protective zones beside water. The zones can not be sprayed or fertilised (to minimise nutrient, and pesticide leakage to lakes and rivers).
- Effective use of energy (for green house production)
Independently checked
All farms are independently checked to guarantee that the production fulfil the criteria.
